BATIK BASIC COURSE (product code: CLP-BW-08) Synopsis: learn about batik basic technique and skill, from waxing to coloring, and removing the wax. Materials & Tools: all provided Duration: total 8 hours * for own location , transportation fee is applied 4 different project each lessons; can choose different day for each lesson Lesson 1 (30 MIN ) – Batik Coloring – How to mixed color from the premier color to others – Assignment: pre waxed batik design on cotton 30cm x 30cm and play with the coloring – Remove the wax with iron and newspaper only Lesson 2 ( 1 HOUR ) – Batik Blok Stamping – Dip the stamp into the hot wax, and stamp on the fabric surface, design pattern can repeat. – Assignment: Pick the design, and stamp on the calico bag – Fixed the color with soak in the sodium silicate, and wash away with hot water and soda ash after 5 hours. *Lesson 3 ( 2 HOURS ) – Batik Canting & Layering – Try to apply the wax on the color area and play with the color tone – Assignment: color the white fabric 50cm x 50cm, and leave it dry, then only start to apply the wax lines, overlapping again and again. - Fixed the color with soak in the sodium silicate, and wash away with hot water and soda ash after 5 hours. *Lesson 4 ( 4 HOURS 30 MIN) – Batik Master Piece – Mixing all the different kind of Batik technique included block printing, and canting, to have the different waxing line, and cracking effect. – Assignment: apply the wax straight away on the cotton 100cm x 100cm, and play with the color on the wax. Cracking the wax area to let the color to go in – Iron the wax off with the newspaper, and fix the color by soaking in the sodium silicate, and wash away with hot water and soda ash after 5 hours.
